It will be interesting to see a follow up in 5-10 years. I think that cities will rebound somewhat. There is a reason they grew so big to begin with. An excess of things available that you can't find elsewhere.

The CEO of his new hospital came and introduced himself. "Hi! I'm Tom Franklin. I'm the CEO." "HI Tom. I'd Ed Johnson." "You're new?" "Yup." "Where are you from? "I'm an anesthesiologist. I came from St. Elsewhere." "Good Lord. That place is the poster child in the Chicago area for how to not deal with an anesthesia group." My former group had an exclusive contact at St. Elsewhere from 1953 to 2017. They really fucked it up.

There's always a shortage of prison docs. Make him work. And if he works, the law says you have to pay him. The lowest paid prisoners at Angola are the field hands and they make as low as two cents an hour. The high highest paid guys are skilled labor and they make $1.80/hr. They don't get all the money. Angola prisoners forfeit 20% of their pay for room and board, 20% to a victims compensation fund, and 30% to a savings account they can access upon release.

No surprise. I agree with @Axtremus @George-K I agree - it has to be a culture change of some sort. People have accepted tipping starting at 10%, then up to 15%, then 18%, now 20+%.... No reason is cant go the other way. And again, I am not a believer that service will suffer. Everybody in someway is in the service industry. Pay them a decent salary.
